About

Deborah Parker Wong, DWSET  is an opinion-leading communicator, journalist and author who specializes in the wine and spirits industries. As Global Wine Editor SOMM Journal and The Tasting Panel magazines, she writes monthly industry columns and reports on the global wine and spirits industries with an emphasis on technology and trends. She is the co author of “1000 Great Everyday Wines” and contributes thought-provoking content to industry trade publications including Wine Business Monthly  

As an Approved Program Provider (APP) for the Wine & Spirits Education Trust, Deborah offers Level 2 and Level 3 certifications. She presents tastings and educational seminars to trade and consumer audiences and judges several wine competitions each year.

In addition to her work as a journalist, Deborah is an adjunct professor in the wine studies program at Santa Rosa Junior College and Cabrillo Colleges.  She holds the Wine and Spirits Education Trust Diploma and is a member of the California Teachers’ Association. Prior to her career as a journalist, Deborah co-directed The Medialink Group, a public relations and strategic marketing agency serving high-technology and luxury consumer goods clients.

    WOW! I had no idea when I was enjoying lunch and poked my finger to search for Deborah Parker and of course you are the sister of Karla Ravandi. Karla spoke of your visit yesterday and I was absolutely knocked over. She and David have been the most gracious people to work alongside of. The site, the home, the entire Estate project and my tiny contribution, a vineyard. I love Bordeaux’s from the Mayacamus mountains. 35 years ago I started planting Bordeaux varietals in those hills, from Sonoma town all the way to Cloverdale. Those vineyards were always great wine producers. Of course unknown to all except the owners and a few friends, as most were too small for commercial release.
    I hope we can meet at Shiloh and enjoy a very good red wine, and some of my Estate Chardonnay while David makes pizza for us all.
